“No” is Not a Four-Letter Word
In your efforts to be generous and self-sacrificing, you may forget how to set firm boundaries. You can’t please everyone all of the time. Learn how to identify when you are tired and need permission to say, “I’m sorry. I can’t do that today.”
The next time you feel yourself buckling under pressure, stop what you’re doing and give yourself permission to defend your boundary. Say no when you need to. Also, be clear in your commitments to others. State clearly what you can and cannot do.
With practice, learning to say no will give you a stronger sense of self-worth and personal freedom.
